This course is designed to introduce participants to marine cargo insurance as it relates to maritime management. Students will examine the historical development of marine insurance as well as the key principles of insurable interest and indemnity.

Participants will be introduced to the structure and types of policies used in practice, and the legal and regulatory frameworks - both domestic (Barbados) and international - that govern marine cargo claims and liability. The course concludes with an examination of emerging risks and trends, shaping the future of the industry.
